The Republic of Letters is an organization committed to helping local writers get involved in their writing community. We want to help you connect with other local writers, and ultimately, local readers. Meaning, with real people. We boast a reading series, lit journal, and showcase a variety of classes, workshops, events, and discussions groups. We offer marketing opportunities to get your work out there. And now, with our Local Author Directory, readers and bookclubs can search through local authors easily by genre, author, and reviews.

Four precious Sundays a year, the Republic of Letters hosts Water Street Writers, a curated reading series featuring local authors from the suburbs of Chicago.
After the event, we have a writers’ open mic too!
